Tutorial 1: Welcome to the Research

- Why your participation matters for the future of programming education
- What to expect during the hackathon
- Your rights as a participant (voluntary, pseudonymized, can withdraw anytime)
Tutorial 2: AI in Programming — The Big Picture
Reading time: ~10 minutes
How AI tools are transforming software development, why programmers are more important than ever, and the new skills you need.
Tutorial 3: Hands-on: GitHub Copilot
Reading time: ~12 minutes
Install GitHub Copilot in VS Code, learn autocomplete and Copilot Chat, and get pro tips for better suggestions.
Before you start:
- VS Code installed
- A GitHub account
- GitHub Copilot activated via GitHub Education
Tutorial 4: Hands-on: Claude for Coding
Reading time: ~12 minutes
Learn the CLEAR prompting framework, 4 real use cases (generate, debug, explain, convert), and when to use Claude vs. Copilot.

Tutorial 5: AI Ethics & Responsible Use
Reading time: ~8 minutes
Who is responsible for AI-generated code? The copy-paste trap. When NOT to trust AI. How to use AI responsibly during the hackathon.
Tutorial 6: Setup — Codeflow Recorder
Reading time: ~10 minutes | Hands-on setup: ~10 minutes
You must complete this tutorial before hackathon day. It includes installing the Codeflow Recorder, running a test recording, and completing the pre-hackathon survey.
What you'll do:
- Download and install Codeflow Recorder
- Sign in with your participant account
- Join the hackathon with your code
- Run a 5-minute test recording
- Verify the upload completed successfully
- Complete the pre-hackathon survey
Tutorial 7: AI-Assisted Programming & MCP Setup
Reading time: ~20 minutes
Learn how to use AI tools at three levels — from basic browser chat to full MCP integration where AI can control your browser, test your forms, and query your database. Includes step-by-step Puppeteer MCP setup for VS Code and Cursor.
Ready for Hackathon Day?
Before you go, make sure you've completed everything:
- Completed all 7 tutorials (2 videos + 5 reading guides)
- VS Code installed with GitHub Copilot
- Claude account ready at claude.ai
- MCP Puppeteer set up (Tutorial 7) — optional but recommended
- Codeflow Recorder installed and tested (5-min test recording uploaded)
- Pre-hackathon survey completed
- Signed consent form given to your teacher
